Saying “terrorism has no religion,” or “Islam does not condone terrorism” is, not enough anymore.

The brutal manner in which Muath al-Kasaesbeh, the Jordanian fighter pilot, was killed should act as a wakeup call for the Islamic world. Being killed in combat is obviously one of the occupational hazards every soldier has to face, but what al-Kasaesbeh had to suffer goes far beyond the call of duty.
What we are faced with here is barbarism: pure and simple. Trying to bring relativistic arguments by referring to events in Palestine or Afghanistan does not diminish this fact. The mistake of harboring secret sympathies for terrorists acting in the name of Islam because they are allegedly avenging the wrongdoings of Israel or the West should also be apparent now.
It also has to be acknowledged that a large number of innocent Muslims are being killed today in Iraq, Syria, Pakistan and Afghanistan in terrorist attacks perpetrated in the name of the sectarian divisions that exist in the house of Islam, and which have nothing to do with the West.
Neither is there room for differentiating between terrorism and acts that supposedly represents resistance to occupation and injustice, but which amount to terrorism by any definition. Nothing can justify the killing of innocent people because of the brutality of others.
When faced with attacks like the one against Charlie Hebdo in Paris, politicians in Turkey, starting with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, say terrorism has no religion. Politicians and opinion makers in the Arab world add that people who perpetrate these acts do not represent Islam.
Such reactions are aimed at trying to dissociate Islam from terrorism, as much as they are aimed at condemning terrorism. Whether they belong to al-Qaeda, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), the al-Nusra Front, Boko Haram, al-Shabaab or whatever name they prefer to go by, the simple fact remains that these groups act in the name of Islam.
The young people who are attracted to them may be driven by reasons relating to the social and economic conditions of their lives, but they justify joining these groups and the acts they perpetrate with Islam.
It is also not sufficient to explain the motives of young people who are prepared to become suicide bombers by declaring that they were driven by reasons other than religion. Ignorant and naïve as they may be, no one gives up their life for nothing. The religious appeal of “martyrdom” and belief in “eternal reward” cannot be overlooked.
Another thing that cannot be overlooked is how many clerics in the Islamic world are allowed to preach messages of hatred and vengeance that are no different to those of members of terrorist groups acting in the name of Islam.
Simply saying “terrorism has no religion,” or “Islam does not condone terrorism” is, therefore, not enough anymore. There are Islamic thinkers and commentators in Turkey today who are pointing to the bloodshed that has characterized Islamic history, and who are calling for serious soul searching by Muslims.
Words, however, are not sufficient. There is also the need for action to combat what is turning out to be the scourge of the century, and which is discrediting the religion of hundreds of millions of good people around the world.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed al-Nahyan, the foreign minster of the United Arab Emirates, in his statement condemning the “obscene” and “brutal” killing of Al-Kasaesbeh referred to this as a “defining moment.”

It remains to be seen how the moment will be defined by Muslims. What is clear, however, is that the time has come for Islam to put its house in order.

The Killing Of The Pilot's killing Is A violation of Islam- Saudi King

Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz al-Saud on Wednesday condemned the killing of a Jordanian pilot by Islamic State militants, calling it a "heinous crime which contradicts the tolerance of our noble religion", the Saudi state news said.
His message offered condolences to the Jordanian people and King Abdullah of Jordan after footage on Tuesday purported to show masked gunmen putting captured Jordanian pilot Mouath al-Kasaesbeh in a cage and burning him to death.

Jordan and Saudi Arabia are part of the U.S.-led alliance bombing the Islamic State group, which has seized swaths of Iraq and Syria.

PDP Is More Of Muslims Than APC – VP Sambo

Vice President, Namadi Sambo yesterday urged the electorate not to be deceived by anyone into voting in the name of religion in the upcoming general elections.
The vice president made the plea in Minna, the Niger State capital, during the presidential campaign rally of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Sambo reminded the electorate that if it is on the basis of religion, the ruling PDP has more Muslims in its leadership than the All Progressive Congress (APC).
He said “when people bring the issue of religion to deceive you, our party has more Muslims than APC. Therefore if this (is) the yardstick, we then have an edge.
“Our chairman is a Muslim; the Director General of our campaign is a Muslim likewise. I Namadina Namadina Sambo is a Muslim. It is only our presidential candidate that is a Christian.
“In APC, their chairman is a Christian, their Campaign Director General is a Christian and the Vice President is a Pastor. Now let me ask you, which between the parties has more Muslims?”

The vice president continued: “Nigeria belongs to both Christians and Muslims. During Tafawa-Balewa, he worked with Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe a Christian, during Shagari he worked with Alex Ekweme, Obasanjo with Atiku, late Umaru Yaradua with Dr. Goodluck Jonathan and now Goodluck with Namadi”.

Osinbajo Smashs Jonathan For Attending OIC Meeting

Vice Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Yemi Osinbajo, has berated President Goodluck Jonathan for being the first Nigerian leader to have attended the meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) since Nigeria was clandestinely enlisted by President Ibrahim Babangida in 1986.
(In this Photo are President Goodluck Jonathan and IOC SG Eiyadd Amin Madani meet in Abuja on June 2, 2014)

Osinbajo said this on Tuesday, at an interactive session with professionals in Warri, Delta State.
Nigeria is one of the 57 member states of the OIC, an organisation that states that it is “the collective voice of the Muslim world” and works to “safeguard and protect the interests of the Muslim world in the spirit of promoting international peace and harmony”.
According to Osinbajo, those accusing the presidential candidate of the APC, Muhammadu Buhari, of being a Muslim fundamentalist, who might Islamize Nigeria are getting it all wrong.
“Throughout his period as military head of state, Buhari was under intense pressure to drag Nigeria into the OIC, but he never yielded, because he respects Nigeria as a secular state, in line with the constitution. Besides, his cook and driver are Christians.
“When Babangida eventually dragged Nigeria into OIC, none of his successors ever attended any of its meeting because they know to Islamise Nigeria is very difficult, as you need to first get the constitution amended. That process, you know, is almost impossible.
(President Goodluck Jonathan with former President of Egypt, Mohammed Morsi during a bilateral meeting)
“But it is on record that in 2013, President Jonathan, undermining the constitutional limitation, ensured that Nigeria attended an OIC meeting,” he declared.

Those dreaming to break up this country are jokers- Buhari

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Tuesday tongue lashed those threatening the corporate existence of the country, saying Nigeria is indivisible.
Addressing a town hall meeting of Kano business committee at the Kano Government House, the APC presidential candidate explained that it is in the best interest of all parts of the country to stay, unite and work hard to address the challenges confronting the country rather than breaking up.
“Those dreaming to break up this country are jokers. I’m wondering how they can achieve it. Divide and go where? The best thing for all of us is to stay together in this country and address our challenges for the good of all”, he said.
Buhari, who recalled how he built the country’s refineries in the 70’s, said the only way to entrench good leadership in the country was to appoint qualified people at appropriate offices and not based on sentiments.
“For nine years General Yakubu Gowon was the Head of State, all the service chiefs and the Chief of Staff Defence headquarters were Christians and up till today I haven’t heard any responsible Muslim complaining about that. During my regime as military Head of State I’m a Muslim and late [Tunde] Idiagbon was Muslim and also from the North and for the 20 months we were opportune, nobody brought religious thing around”, he explained.
“This religion thing is so irritating. If you are working, work with competent people. For us that have been in the military, about 80 percent of military personnel were Christians and I rose from a second lieutenant to a General. There was no command and staff appointment that I did not go through and all those who worked under me and above me were Christians, yet I was able to make it. So people are hiding their incompetence under religion”, he said.
Decrying the inability of the Peoples Democratic Party-led federal government to secure the release of the abducted Chibok schoolgirls, Buhari said the government and the security agencies kept dishing out lies to Nigerians on the situation.
In his address on the occasion, a former president of the Manufacturing Association of Nigeria (MAN), Alhaji Bashir Borodo, said the manufacturing sector required holistic and sincere policies to take its rightful position in the scheme of things in the country.

Glory To Islam, Distruction Of Israel Approaching: Commander

A senior commander at the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said on Wednesday that days of magnificence of Islam and annihilation of the Zionist regime and global arrogance are imminent.

Deputy Commander of IRGC’s Qods Force Brigadier General Esmael Qaani made the remarks Tuesday evening in a local gathering in this holy city also known as the religious capital of Iran, IRNA reported.

Referring to Iran’s presence at the Resistance Front, the deputy commander said, “This is not a military presence but their company encourages the Iraqi and Syrian youth making them more determined in their fights.”

“Today everyone knows that the youth of Lebanese Hezbollah are the defenders of the country’s security against foreign enemies and Tekfiris,” said the general.

He said that pure blood of the international martyrs of Islam that were shed in fights against the Zionist regime including those of the Brigadier General Mohammad Ali Allahdadi and Jihad Mughniyeh, the son of Hezbollahˈs assassinated top military commander, Imad Mughniyeh, would bear a fruit soon.

The two martyrs along with four other members of Hezbollah resistance fighters were killed in the Zionist regime’s latest attack on Quneitra in the occupied Golan Heights in Syria.

Also referring to the presence of the US troops in Iraq and Afghanistan under the pretext of the fight against terrorism following the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Qaani said, in fact US is in the region to fight against the Islamic establishment of Iran.

The deputy commander referred to Iran as the only country in the world which has risen against global arrogance with logic as its sharpest weapon.

“Global arrogance resists obeying logic due to its arrogant nature,” Qaani stressed.
