I have watched the new political trend of terrorism in the
world with great sadness and dismay. My heart dried up out of pity and
condolence for the family of three young Muslims who have been shot dead in
their home in a quiet neighborhood of North Carolina in the US 11th February
around 5:11PM.
Police have named the victims as 23-year-old Deah Shaddy
Barakat, his wife Yusor Mohammad, 21, and her sister, Razan Mohammad Abu-Salha,
19.
The 46-years-old killer, Craig Stephen Hicks has been
arrested by the police on suspicion of three counts of first-degree murder. The
major mainstream media is silent about this for a reason that is still
equivocal to people's consciousness.
Could it have been that the meaning of terrorism has changed
now that the Muslims are the affected and the perpetrator is not an Arab? The
Charlie Hebdo killing is a very sad happening which was condemned by everyone
including the world leaders. But CNN gave it 24 hours media coverage for almost
two weeks. Unfortunately CNN and other main stream media are not giving the
story a deserving attention, the few media channels talking about this horrible
killing are also diplomatic in their usage of words. ?Terrorism? is not
appearing on their highly negligible synopsis, ?gun-man?, a ?shooter?, ?loner?
and other similar words are being used to lessen the gravity of the killers
annihilating identity and his religious and national connection.
A sane and sincere heart would condemn this horrible
happening and would also recapitulate the deliberate physical and psychological
attacks being unleashed on the Muslims in the world under the global illusion
of hunting for the ?potential terrorists? and ?mental instability?.
This is not the first time Muslims would be killed unjustly
and the media would not only watch gleefully but would also politically kill
the case without giving the news the maximum publicity to bring the perpetrator
to justice like in Charlie Hebdo?s Paris shooters were bought to instant
justice. The case of Marwa El-sherbini on the 1st of July 2009 is still fresh
in our memories.
It was while Marwa el-Sherbini was in the dock recalling how
the accused had insulted her for wearing the hijab after she asked him to let
her son sit on a swing last summer, that the very same man strode across the
Dresden courtroom and plunged a knife into her 18 times.
Her three-year-old son Mustafa was forced to watch as his
mother slumped to the courtroom floor.
Even her husband Elvi Ali Okaz could do nothing as the
28-year-old Russian stock controller who was being sued for insult and abuse
took the life of his pregnant wife. As Okaz ran to save her, he too was brought
down, shot by a police officer who mistook him for the attacker. Later the
killer was only accused of having a mental problem.
Also, Breivik is the
perpetrator of the 2011 Norway attacks. On 22 July 2011, he killed eight people
by setting off a van bomb amid government buildings in Oslo, then shot dead 69
participants of a Workers' Youth League (AUF) summer camp on the island of
Utoya. Many of the victims were children and Muslims.
No media organization defined such lugubrious killing as the
deadliest in Europe like the Charlie Hebdo was described. No one mentioned
Christianity side by side along Breivik name. Of course the Muslims do not believe
Christianity inspired him to engage in such a horrible killing.
But it is crystal clear that there have been deliberate
pre-calculated and well scripted scenarios to label the Muslims badly through
an offence by a self-acclaimed ?Muslim?.
The religion of Islam would not only assume the center of disturbing
discussions in the world by the power that be but the Muslims would also be
indicted for an offence committed by a faceless ?Muslim?. At this moment
terrorism would replace all the words in the dictionary of the media.
The Muslims and every sane mind wait patiently as to what
would become the judgment of Craig Stephen Hicks who has cut short the dream of
three young people who are no more alive to define their future and ultimately
worship their lord.
The Center For Human Rectitude call on the media to be just
and be upright in their profession and also be bold to speak against evil
wherever it is coming from.
The Chapel Hill shooting is an horrible act like Charlie
Hebdo Killing which should be condemned and be given the same attention by the
world if truly we want to put back terrorism back to the ambiance of injustices
that it belongs.
