The National Convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) holds
today at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere in Lagos. The party’s
presidential candidate is expected to emerge at the end of the exercise.
National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Alhaji Lai Muhammed, has
told Nigerians to expect the party’s presidential candidate either later
today or early morning tomorrow.Muhammed, who was in company with other APC National Convention Media Committee at a press conference in Lagos, said: “The national convention of the party is billed for today, December 10 and tomorrow, December 11, 2014 in Lagos.”
He said the party’s congresses and election of candidates for the various positions that commenced earlier in the month would climax with the election of the APC standard-bearer for the February 2015 presidential poll.
Spelling out the processes, Muhammed stated: “No fewer than 8,000 delegates drawn from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are expected to participate in the convention and the presidential primaries that would elect the party’s standard-bearer out of the five presidential aspirants of the party.”
He described the five APC presidential aspirants as “eminent citizens with proven credentials.” He gave the names of the aspirants as General Muhammadu Buhari, a former head of state; Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, a former vice president; Alhaji Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Kano State governor; Owelle Rochas Okorocha, Imo State governor and Sam Nda-Isaiah, publisher of Leadership Newspaper.
